Description

Please no time wasters!!

I have the very last of my breeding available, I have held off parting with her, but work commitments and a complete change in direction (much less shooting) forces me to look for the best possible home for her.

Mainly used for picking up, but last season dogged in, done a small amount of beating & sat on my peg.

Quiet, bouncy, fun loving cocker who does not want to be shut up in a kennel all summer, this girl wants all the love and attention. Has been kennelled but the last 3 months, has been crated in the house & loves it. She’s house trained, but will occasionally jump on a table, so if you want a house dog, you’ll have some work to do. Very friendly with absolutely everyone, dogs included, used to a busy kennel environment, but I’d like to see her have more attention than be a number.

Picks all fur and feather, including grouse and woodcock. Wouldn’t spend all day on dummies, she will do them, but doesn’t care for loads of them. I share her thoughts of this so we don’t really ‘train’, more just go and do the job at hand. She doesn’t have a stop whistle, doesn’t need one, will hunt using her own nose and has bags of ability in game finding.

This girl has bags left to give to the right person, I will only part with her to the very best of homes. Transport is available at the cost of the buyer.

🐶 Buyer’s Checklist for Gun Dogs

Whether you’re buying, selling, or studding a dog, it’s essential to take the right steps to protect yourself—and the animals involved.

  • Always meet the dog in person at the breeder’s home or kennel—never agree to buy without seeing them first.
  • Ask to see the puppies with their Dam (mother), and the Sire (father) if available.
  • Verify all paperwork:
    • Kennel Club (KC) registration number
    • Date of birth
    • Health screening results
  • Prepare questions to ask the breeder. Some helpful ones include:
    • Did you breed the dog(s) yourself?
    • Can I see where they were bred and raised?
    • How old is the Dam, and how many litters has she had?
    • Was the birth natural or via C-section?
    • Are there any known health issues?
    • Can I see documentation for both Dam and Sire?
    • Will the puppy be vaccinated and wormed before purchase?

  • If something feels off, walk away. Don’t ignore red flags.
  • Ask for advice from a trusted third party if you’re unsure.
  • Take your time. This is a big decision—don’t rush it.

  • Puppies should appear happy, healthy, clean, and curious.
  • You should be allowed to see and handle all puppies in the litter, not just the one you're considering.
  • Never buy a puppy younger than 8 weeks old.
  • Avoid any puppies that show signs of illness—e.g. runny eyes, weakness, or diarrhoea.

  • Is the whelping pen clean?
  • Do the dogs have access to fresh water, clean food, and adequate space?
  • The living conditions can say a lot about the breeder’s standards.

  • Ensure you receive the KC registration form and all relevant documents at the time of payment.
  • Write up a simple contract to protect both buyer and seller—especially important in case circumstances change.
  • Never agree to buy a puppy in a car park or public place. Always go to the breeder's premises.
